Pregnancy Massage, Brought to Your Door
Gentle, expert-led massage designed for the second and third trimesters — in the comfort and privacy of your own home, anywhere across Glasgow's south side.
What Is Pregnancy Massage?
Pregnancy massage is a form of therapeutic massage adapted specifically for the physical changes of pregnancy. It uses supportive positioning, pregnancy-safe pressure, and techniques that ease common discomforts like lower back pain, hip tension, and swelling — without putting strain on the abdomen or lying you flat on your back.

The Benefits of Prenatal Massage
-
Eases pregnancy-related aches — targeted relief for lower back, hips, shoulders, and swollen legs or feet
-
Reduces stress and supports better sleep — a calming session that lowers cortisol and helps you switch off
-
Improves circulation — gentle techniques that can help with fluid retention and tired legs
-
A moment that's entirely yours — no waiting room, no travel, no rushing home afterwards — just an hour of care in your own space

First Trimester: Prenatal massage carries inherent risks during the first trimester. For safety reasons, Jennifer does not provide massage services to clients within their first trimester of pregnancy.
-
Second & Third Trimesters: For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, prenatal massage is generally safe during the second and third trimesters when using adapted techniques and positioning.
-
Medical Clearance: Before your first pregnancy massage, Jennifer needs written consent from your GP or midwife. If your pregnancy is complex, Jennifer may ask for it again later on. This clearance is required for insurance purposes, and Jennifer will talk it through with you when she phones before your visit.
Safety & Suitability
What positions are used during the massage?
Jennifer uses side-lying for the whole treatment, as it's the most comfortable and safest position in pregnancy. You'll start on one side, supported by cushions, then turn to the other halfway through.
Are the oils and products used safe during pregnancy?
Yes. For pregnancy massage, Jennifer uses only pure, unscented plant-based carrier oils, which give a smooth glide and keep skin hydrated without triggering sensitivities or nausea. For other treatments, Jennifer uses massage oils containing essential oils chosen for each client's needs.
What Happens During Your Session
-
Arrival and set-up — Jennifer arrives a little before your booked time and sets up the portable table, fresh linens and supportive cushions in a room of your choosing
-
Your treatment — after a short chat about how you're feeling and where you're holding tension, you'll lie comfortably on your side, supported by cushions, and turn to the other side halfway through your 60 or 90 minutes
-
Aftercare — Jennifer leaves you with simple advice: drink plenty of water and rest for the remainder of the day, while everything is packed away quietly
Pregnancy Massage vs. Swedish Massage
Pregnancy massage isn't simply a gentler version of a regular massage — it's a distinct technique built around trimester-specific positioning and pressure. If you're not currently pregnant but want a full-body relaxation session, the Swedish Massage page may be a better fit. Already had your baby? See the Postpartum Massage page for post-birth recovery support.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I start having Pregnancy Massage?
Jennifer begins prenatal massage treatment from the second trimester. This is standard practice among certified prenatal therapists, as the first trimester carries a higher risk profile that most practitioners choose not to treat during.
Can Pregnancy Massage help with sciatica or back pain?
Many women find that targeted prenatal massage eases the lower back and hip discomfort linked to pregnancy-related sciatica, though results vary by individual.
How is this different from a regular massage at home?
Pregnancy Massage uses side-lying positioning, supportive pillows, and pressure adapted to avoid the abdomen and certain pressure points, rather than the face-down table position used in a standard Swedish Massage.
Do I need to provide anything?
No — Jennifer brings the massage table, linens, and oils. You'll just need a warm, quiet room with enough space to set up, and access to a plug socket if music is requested.
Do you only treat women?
Yes — An Suath is a women-only mobile massage service, which many clients find makes prenatal treatment more comfortable.
How far in advance should I book?
At least 24 hours in advance. Bookings are confirmed instantly through the online calendar.
What areas do you cover?
Jennifer covers Williamwood, Cathcart, Muirend, Netherlee, King's Park, Cambuslang, Blantyre, and Rutherglen. See the Service Area page for full details.
